Misadventures in Dating: Notice of Intent

After interacting for a while and getting to know each other when do we get to the part where we verbally say what we want from the other?

Do we go on and on and on in peaceful ignorance or should we let one another know what our intentions are?

When should you know what your intentions are? Is there a time frame?

“Hanging out” for three months means what?

I swear I was born in the wrong era.

These waters are rough…

Day 9: Do One Thing #31DayReset

Assignment for today: Today, you will do one thing to move yourself closer to your ideal life. We will be embarking on some more in-depth action planning later this month, but today’s exercise is meant to begin building some initial momentum for your journey.

So, one of my goals is to improve my credit so TODAY I ordered my credit report to get that on track. A tangible action to improve one thing in my life.

Momma would be so proud!

What’s one thing you could do TODAY to get you where you want to be in life?

Think about it and share in the comments below. 🙂

Day 7 & 8: Create a Life Map & Rest, Reflect and Comment

Day 7: Create a Life Map

Today’s challenge was to create a life map using areas we reflected on in our Day 2 of the challenge “Life Assessment.” This is where I think about where I want my life to go. This will be fun! Here goes:

Lifestyle: Big house (enough for all the fam to be cozy), big kitchen where I can experiment with new dishes and making my own hair products, living someplace WARM, Regular travel

Work: Working in a hospital setting helping patients to optimize their health by making better decisions, advocating on patient’s behalf

Education: Master’s Degree, photography class

Finances: No debt, good credit score and 6 months worth of savings

Health: Regular check ups, eating healthy and maintaining my vegetarian diet

Family: Regular time spent with family members. Together for holidays.

Relationships: Married with baby on the way and maintaining my friendships

Day 8: Reflection

The most important thing I learned about myself this week is that with a little determination I can get anything done.

My favorite exercise this week was the life map. It was so fun to envision where I want to be.

I probably struggled the most on the mission statement. I’ve never had to write one about my life.

Day 6: Write a Personal Mission Statement #31DayReset

I value TRUTH, honesty, commitment, loyalty and trust. I am the daughter of the Most High God and will act accordingly. I am blessed beyond comprehension. I am saved and sanctified by the blood of Jesus which allows me power over the enemy.

I value health, wholeness, nature and preservation. I strive to stomp out injustice and to advocate for the defenseless.

I am passionate about the arts and will use my talents for the Lord.

I will take every experience in my life as a valuable lesson and grow as an individual.

I will continue to strive to make this world a better place by educating and spreading knowledge.

Lastly, I will live life without fear. For God holds me in the palm of His hand. Life without borders.

Day 5: Envision Your Values in Action #31DayReset

I’ve been slacking! I’m catching up today!

Part 1: Am I Currently Living Out My Values?

Now that you’re clear on what you really care about, you want to compare your values to how you’re currently living your life. For each value that you identified in your “Reset 10″, rate yourself from 1-10 on how you feel you’re acting out that particular value in your life. Be honest with yourself – it’s the only way to be able to improve upon the life you’re living now to the life you want to be living in the future!

  1. God – 8
  2. Love – 7
  3. Josh – 7
  4. Family – 6
  5. Friends – 7
  6. Serenity – 7
  7. Learning – 9
  8. Travel/Exploration – 7
  9. Truth – 8
  10. Communication – 8

Part 2: What Do My Values Look Like in Action?

For each value that you identified in your “Reset 10″, list out at least three actions that you currently take or that you should be taking in order to honor and fulfill that value in your life. What kinds of things would you be doing if you were living in full accordance with your values? What would it really look like for you to be able to rate yourself as a “10″ on how you live out all your values?

  1. God – 8  (weekly church attendance, prayer, scripture reading)
  2. Love – 7 (patience, kindness, humility)
  3. Josh – 7 (patience, kindness, more time)
  4. Family – 6 (patience, kindness, understanding)
  5. Friends – 7 (time, patience, understanding)
  6. Serenity – 7 (15 minute breaks to recenter, calming music, worship)
  7. Learning – 9 (continue education, exploring, discovering)
  8. Travel/Exploration – 7 (more traveling will be done when I graduate, get my passport, get learner’s permit)
  9. Truth – 8 (never stop seeking the truth, listen, do)
  10. Communication – 8 (listen, listen, talk)

Day 4: Identify Your Values #31DayReset

I’m behind on my days but haven’t given up yet!!! *pushing*

Today’s challenge:

Step 1:

Take at least 15 minutes to jot down a free-for-all list of all the things that means a lot to you in your life, all the things you care about. Feel free to take more time if you need it.

God, love, Josh, mom, family, friendships, church, bible, social issues, social awareness, social justice, social policy, equality, fellowship, stability, honesty, trust, communication, learning, wisdom, problem-solving, integrity, TRUTH, serene environment, serenity, and travel/exploration.

Step 2:

Once you identify all of your values – all the things you care about, choose your “Reset 10″ – a list of your TOP 10 values from your list. They don’t have to be in any particular order, though you may certainly rank them if you’d like.

  1. God
  2. Love
  3. Josh
  4. Family
  5. Friends
  6. Serenity
  7. Learning
  8. Travel/Exploration
  9. Truth
  10. Communication
What are somethings you value? Feel free to share them in the comments below!

Day 3: Write a Love Letter to Your Future Self #31DayReset

Dear future Aisha,

Congrats on all the progress you’ve made so far! Now you have even more to be grateful for in each area of your life, including :

Your life is so much better now and it’s all because of your hard work.  Keep it up!

Loving you now and always,

*I will be using the website www.futureme.org to send this to myself in an e-mail three months from now. I will get this in April and hopefully these things will have been accomplished*
